Happy New Year from all the Mohawks Staff, Players and volunteers. We wish you all the best for 2012. I’m really looking forward to 2012 and what hopefully will be a productive last 16 games of the season, i’m hoping we can string a few wins together and get back into the play off spots and build for next season. We’ve had a few training sessions over the break but this week we’ll be back training hard to prepare ourselves for a very tough game against Bradford Dragons on Saturday at home. Coach Mellor has his side really focused, well drilled and with good players such as Silcott, Sulcs and Pabrieza brothers who all played last season in the Division 2 Championship side. we’ll need to be focused for the full 40 minutes and play team basketball, We’ve shot alot of 3 pointers already this season and i’m looking to use our big men more over the next couple of months as Ike Attah, Acho Anyigbo and Jean Louis Bomolo need to get the ball in the paint to cause their big men problems. Alex Stifkas and Jean Louis Bomolo have recovered from sore knees and Captain Ike Attah is back after a break in Chicago to see his family so I’m hoping to field a full, fit squad this weekend. We’ve got a lot of work to do if we wanna stay out of a relegation battle but i’m confident the guys can do this, Leading the way will be DeMarcus Berry who needs to step up and lead this team as his numbers have been good but i believe their is still a little more that DeMarcus can give us.”

Tees Valley Mohawks host Bradford Dragons at Teesside University’s Olympia Building on Staurday 7th January at 5;00pm Tip off. Tickets prices are £4 Adults and £2 Children with a family ticket of just £10 for 2 adults and 2 children. If you come along and its your first game of the season if you quote “Tees Valley Mohawks 1st Timer” you get in half price.

The National Cup is like the FA cup in football terms, Coach Butler adds ” It was a fantastic run in the cup and we did really well getting to the semi final and were so close to a national championship game but now in 2012 we can look forward to winning a few more games in the league and trying to charge a good run in the playoffs. With the support of the local people i believe this club can become a huge powerhouse in basketball again like we were in the late 1990′s and early 2000′s. The local people are what we are looking for to come along and support the Mohawks and be apart of the journey. ”
