Tees Valley Mohawks are pleased to announce the signing of American and BBL star DJ Glavan. DJ Glavan was born 7th of June 1989 in Chicago Illinois. DJ attended Loyola Academy where his teammates were Jeffery and Marcus Jordan, sons of the greatest player of all time Michael Jordan, DJ says ”

I remember meeting Michael for the first time, i was in 8th grade and i played against his sons team in the Deerfield Mulitplex where Chicago Bulls trained and as i was walking away i heard my name being shouted across the court, as i turned i saw it was Michael Jordan and his first words were ” You are a very good point guard but you need to shoot the ball more” he shook my hand and then walked off, ever since that day it has inspired and motivated me to become the best player i could possibly be. Whilst at Loyola Academy DJ Glavan thrived and blossomed into being a great point guard, In his senior year he helped the team to a record 28 – 2 season averaging 16 points, 8 assists and 3 rebounds a game. Tees Valley Look To Future Stars

TEES Valley Mohawks put the focus on the future as they bade goodbye to the 2011-12 season.For the Middlesbrough-based club rounded off their campaign with a 85-58 friendly win over Carlisle Panthers on a day when they also held their annual presentation of awards.But they also used the match to hand new signings  Tom Robinson, Kyle Haldane and young Brendan Brown their debuts. Mohawks Unveil New Signing

TEES Valley Mohawks have begun their rebuilding programme by unveiling new signing Tom Robinson spent two seasons with the Lions, who he helped win promotion to EBL Division Three last term. He averaged 29 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists per game in 2010-11, ranking him the second best player in the fourth division. Now, he says, he’s ready to make his mark in the top flight with the Mohawks. “I enjoyed my time at the Lions,” he said. “The supporters were fantastic, I got to know some great team-mates who I class as friends now.

“But I believe the time is right to move on and test myself at the standard the Mohawks’ Division One team play at every week.” Robinson will also be involved in the club’s coaching clinics – the first of which is on Saturday at the Olympia Building. Read More »

Tees Valley Mohawks open its doors to the Future basketball stars last Saturday with their first Coaching Clinic at the Olympia Building Teesside University. 21 up and coming basketball youngsters were put through their paces and taught the basket fundamentals of basketball, Dribbling, Passing and Shooting skills.

Head Coach of the Mohawks Steve Butler says ” This is very important part of our set up this season is too encourage young children to pick up and basketball and play the sport. Learn the basics but have fun whilst meeting new friends, after a successful camp at Eastern Ravens the other week this was just as successful with lots of news faces. Read More »

Mohawks Junior Basketball Clinic

Tees Valley Mohawks are holding their first Basketball Clinic due to popular demand from the youngsters in the area to help promote the sport and develop the club even further, The Clinic is to be held at Teesside University’s Olympia Building on April 21st from 12 till 2pm. At the Basketball clinic the children will be developing their dribbling skills, passing, shooting and playing in a team. The coaches will be putting the children through a workout that will also including healthy Lifestyles and promoting teamwork and respect plus most of all the camp will be fun and making new friends. Tees Valley Mohawks host Defending Champions Bristol Flyers tomorrow 31st March 2012 at 5:00pm at Teesside Univeristy’s Olympia Building, Tees Valley are looking to finish the season with a home win and with your support we can do just that. There will be plenty of entertainment during the day with Dance Mania performing before the game and during half time plus Shooting competitions for children plus a highly entertaining EBL Basketball Game for you to enjoy. Also Ray Mallon will hopefully be making a appearance to show his support after coming to watch the Tees Valley Mohawks train last Tuesday night at the Olympia….

Ticket prices have been slashed by 50% with just entry at £2 for all people who email back confirming their names on the guest list.

This is our FINAL home game of 2011 – 2012 season and we are hoping to attract the biggest crowd of the season to help cheer us on.

Tees Valley Mohawks Suffer Back To Back Defeats

Tees Valley Mohawks suffered back to back defeats last weekend but coach Butler was still able to take positives out of the weekend after seeing his talented crop of juniors gain valuable court time. Mohawks lost to Title chasing Worthing Thunder 88 – 64 at home and then travelled to Leeds losing 95 – 62. Sharp Shooter Mike Dodd only hit 12 and 14 points respectively at the weekend showing Mohawks had trouble at the offensive end of the court. Coach Butler sasy ” This was a disappointing weekend we cant hide from that but what i was impressed with was our juniors, There gained valuable court time and the man of the weekend was Alex Moore, He is still only 22 and he is becoming a important guy on our team.
